When Stretching Your Limits

For more than four years, I have been working on most weekends.

I’m not trying to brag or be a victim but it was my choice to grow my skills.

And for most people at the beginning of the year, I reflected about the last year and intended

to ‘relax’ this year and not too work so hard. Compared to previous years, this was very unlike me.

But something interesting happened. It felt uncomfortable to have a direction that was not

purposeful.

Like a stretched out jumper, it no longer felt like it belonged.

The last couple of months has been a huge realisation. The epic realisation is when i don’t focus

on my goals, distractions and problems start to evolve. I was not moving forward.

I wasn’t fulfilled in spirit, body or mind.

This intended proclaimed mental ’holiday’ for myself became a series of unfortunate events. And

what I know for sure, life will always present itself a set of problems.

I had to ask myself these questions:

Are these obstacles aligned with your values?

“Why do I have low energy and feel so uninspired?”

“Why does this ‘holiday’ feel so bad?”

“Why have I lost my concept of time and have not spent my time on situations that matter to me?”

The answer is simple.

My goals were vague and uncertain. The uncertainty caused my thoughts and actions to

be impressionable to other peoples opinions. I was ‘doing’ things that I don’t usually do in

my spare time.

My time was spent doing what people expected me to do. I was not fulfilling my desires. I was not

fulfilling goals. I was not moving forward.

And the answer is the progression to change requires deliberate action of mind, body and spirit.

When we grow, our lives are fulfilled. We are better than before. We are challenged.

When we are consistent with our actions, it creates life changing habits. Habits are like the small

bricks that create the foundations of a house. There will be no house without a solid base.

Habits can change your whole perspective on life and the direction of your career, wealth

and family.

When deliberate actions are happening every day, these habits slowly become a part of

your daily routine like brushing your teeth or going to bed.

When you look back in six months or even a years time, you will feel different.

Small habits start to snowball into a magnitude of blessings.

And trust me, these blessings will be more than you have ever imagined.
